The year is 2116.  100 years ago genetic scientist were given carte blanche to transform to transform the human condition by developing and creating sophisticated technologies to greatly enhance human intellectual, physical and psychological capacities.

The human enhancement technologies are disproportionately available to those with greater financial resources, thereby increasing the gap between rich and poor and creating a 'genetic divide'.  A two-tiered society of genetically engineered 'haves' and 'have nots' has emerged as a result.  The country is mainly controlled by the enhanced 'superior haves'  who due to their enhanced abilities feel they have the credentials to govern and make decisions on behalf of the 'have nots'.  The 'have nots' view this government as a dictatorship causing mass social unrest resulting in a divided society.

The 'have nots' that genetic modifications have enhanced the 'haves' to an extent to which they are not human anymore and therefore un-relatable to the un-enhanced human .  Protesting groups and secret societies are emerging, each with their own statement of beliefs, some are for the regime, some are against some hold more extreme views that others.
