Images taken during casting process of jewlery

Above: Armiture made for stop motion part of animation also used in poster design, this was created using mod-rock and wax for molds.  This was initialy going to be made from a metalic material, however this was shelved due to cost and time restraints.

Development of Jewlery

Using Sand Casting to make Jewelery

Using the furness/Flame to heat metal

Test Pieces which did not reach through the entire cast which meant we had to choose a different type of metal that would flow through the sand more easily.

The Casts are getting better with each new attempt at the process as we develop our own skills at making the casts.

Interesting shapes created when things go wrong, it created ideas that could be further developed.

Looking at textures for initial ideas/concepts for a more natural/organic look.

Using nature as a concept for design of badges, initially for more naturalistic form.

Team meeting was held to take forward our concepts and ideas.  During the meeting we looked at images and sketches we had provided and discussed these as a group whilst incorporating our main concept.

During this meeting we confirmed the roles that we would be performing within the team and although there was to be a fluidity in our approach it was felt that individuals should have tasks to be responsible for, whilst still being able to cross over in to each of the other disciplines.

We also agreed upon rough Designs of both our Armature (Robot) and Jewelry (Badge), these have not been finalized, however we are looking to produce machetes/sketches of these for our next meeting at 3.15pm on 23/03/16 with a view to have enough to show in our group critique on 25/03/16.

The Individual Responsibility is as follows:

Tyler: Storyboard/Animation/Armature/Editing/Blog (machetes/armatures to be produced for 23/03/16)

Spencer: Storyboard/Animation/Armature/Editing/Blog (machetes/armatures to be produced for 23/03/16)

Ivon:  Badges/blog/(machetes/cads to be produced for 23/03/16)
Nicky: Badges/blog/(machetes/cads to be produced for 23/03/16)

James: Poster Design and production/Blog

(This is not a final list, only a guide and we will all have to opportunity to develop our skills at later stages)

Friday, 18 March 2016

Name: Actuator laboratories

Group Members:  Ivon, Nicky, Spencer, Tylor, James

Initial Ideas: A company that manufactures Robots and is managed and controlled by humans with the aim that robots will be replacing human jobs, thereby allowing humans to have more freetime.

So as a team we will research and identify the following topics.

  • What is happening with current robotics
  • ethics involved with A.I.
  • What the future aspirations of Robotic Companies are
  • Sales/Commercials
  • Films/advertisements old and new
  • Industrial Revolution, Digital Revolution and the problems that are created as result.
  • Different ways to manufacturer badges
We plan to look at development of these ideas and concepts, initial research and sketches of our own ideas and look at these collectively, this will be done by Tuesday 22nd when will we reconvene on .... to take forward, this will then be aimed towards our final poster, advert, badge design.

Badges: will be individual, however will be personalized towards the job roles
Posters: will be from the human perspective
Animation/advert: will be from the robot companies perspective.
